Community school
Since 2013, we have been expanding to other country sides to help families, widows and orphans. One of the districts we extended to is Miytana, where we are partnering with a private school to support twenty orphans from different families to be in school. The name of the school is Magonga Good Times Kindergarten and Primary School. Mrs. Geraldine Nalongo is the head teacher of the school. Being a teacher at a government school, she decided to leave all that behind to go and open up a small village school. She had the desire to help children who often used to walk long distances to school. At the moment this school employs four people for 130 students. Areas like the one Miytana is in are usually underdeveloped and many poor families live there. A lot of children grow up in unsafe family systems. That means that in many families the father is not present or the families are disrupted because of large conflicts. It is therefore a major challenge for those families to pay for school books, school uniforms, pens, and even food during a day at school. Furthermore, children account for very little. They are often seen as cheap laborers by their parents or legal guardians. They are cleaning personnel, wood-collectors, responsible for the animals, and gardening. Education is of no priority whatsoever. Our goal from SAI-Uganda is to see changes in these children’s spiritual lives as well as their level of education, to break the cycle of poverty so these children’s children will have better chances in their lives.
Twenty orphans from extremely poor families were picked and are subsidized. Each one of these families has been visited by the team of SAI-Uganda to determine the degree of help needed. All those children have their school fees reimbursed and on top of it received books and pens. In the future, we want to provide them with food as well.

Make a change in these children’s spiritual lives as well as their level of education. Our work is based on the task to teach those children to become responsible people.
